Zainul Azam
Initial journey into martial arts was in 1986 with Muay Thai and progressing to Freestyle Kickboxing (Lau Gar kung fu combined with western kickboxing) under Sensei Keith Jones. Trained for a short time in Ju-jitsu under Professor Trevor Roberts.
Went to University in London in 1991 and started training in Jeet Kune Do (JKD) under Master Bob Breen at The Academy. At the same time started training in Kali under Bob Breen, GM Pat O'Malley and GM John Harvey. In 1993, followed Pat and John along with half a dozen other students to form the original Rapid Arnis group.
Have travelled to Philippines on several occasions and trained in various systems: Pekiti Tirsia, Balintawak, Doce Pares and Modern Arnis. Started teaching Kombat Kali in 1999. Kombat Kali is a blend of Rapid Arnis, Pekiti Tirsia, Balintawak, Doce Pares and Modern Arnis.
